Golf Operations Manager

Hawk Ridge welcomed Chris to the team at the beginning of this season. Having been involved in the Golf Industry for about eight years, his experience in all aspects of the golf course operation coupled with a four-year Honours Degree in Business Golf Management has provided him with the education in business management with a focus on the golf industry.

Chef Josh Lockrey
Executive Chef

Josh started cooking in 2003 as a prep cook at the fast paced Cara establishment and from then on he had a new respect for any culinary work.  Josh took a huge step and moved from Cara to causal fine dining  to take on the unknown finer points of cooking and flavors.

During this time, Josh had moved schools and took on an apprenticeship under Dan Carpino at TLSS and promptly after that he joined the O.Y.A.P program and had the pleasure of working for Paul Christians and Borden Henson. Josh continued his career working closley with Chef Ian Thompson at 16 Front in Orillia. He learned more from Chef Ian than any chef previous to him because he nurtured healthy practice and made cooking fun. Shortly after leaving Front 16, Josh mastered the art of baking at Patileros Patisserie and left there to become the Sous Chef at Hawk Ridge Golf Club. After a season of being with Hawk Ridge Golf Club, Josh learned that he would be spearheading the Food and Beverage Department and that drove him to get his red seal. As of April 1, 2014, Josh became a red seal chef and the Executive Chef at Hawk Ridge. During the end of 2018, Josh left to pursue  a career in fine dining to further his skills, only to return to Hawk Ridge in April 2019. We are happy to welcome Josh home again.

Terry Smith
Director of Instruction

Terry has been with Hawk Ridge for 4 years in the capacity of Teaching Professional. He has also spent a total of 3 years running the golf leagues and most of the member golf functions. Terry has worked full time in the golf industry since 1992, became a PGA of Canada Member in 1993 and a Class A Member in 1997.

He has worked as an Assistant Professional, a Head Professional, an Associate Professional and a Teaching Professional over the span of his career. He has played competitively during his Professional career in the PGA of Ontario zone with a few top 10 finishes. In 2013, he was nominated for the PGA of Ontario Junior Leader of the Year award for leading his Junior Team to a victory in the Pepsi Titleist Junior Interclub Tour. He has also coached the Lakehead University, Orillia Campus Golf Team for the past two seasons. In 2014, The Orillia Minor Hockey Association inducted Terry into their Life membership category for his work as a referee since 1977 and my volunteer work within the organization since the early 1980’s.

Bar Cart Attendant

Provide the most memorable golf experience on behalf of a facility that maximizes customer satisfaction when you serve as an on-course Bar Cart Attendant. The Beverage Cart Attendant is responsible for providing refreshments to Members and guests during their golf game with a high level of service.
